81% of Parents Would Be Happy if Their Child Went into Marketing as a Career
It’s not up to Mum and Dad what the kids do for a living when they grow up. But that doesn’t stop them having a preference for the career choices of their little ones when they grow up.
In August 2019, Perpetual Fostering
asked 2,000 Mums and Dads in the UK to rate a series of jobs out of 10 in terms of how happy they’d be with each career choice for their children.
The survey found that Marketer was one of parents’ Top 20 most favoured careers for their children. What's more:
80.8% of UK adults would be pleased if their child went into Marketing when they’re older.
More parents in Wales want their children to become Marketers when they grow up than in any other part of the UK.
On average, parents would be happier if their child became a Marketer than a Police Officer, Estate Agent, Security Guard and other professions.
Love Island Star and Reality TV Star were ranked lowest at the bottom of the list.
Doctor topped the list though, with 94% of parents saying they’d be pleased with this option.
Lisa Witter, Manager at Perpetual Fostering comments:
“It’s no surprise that so many parents favour Marketing based careers in the UK, particularly those who’ve already identified natural, innate creative abilities in their children. I think a career in Marketing is a fantastic opportunity to put those kinds of skills to good use. What’s more, Marketing roles also tend to provide reasonably good job security, as well as brilliant salaries and opportunities for career progression. Ultimately though, all options apart from Love Island Star scored above 5/10, suggesting parents really are proud of their children regardless of what career they end up in.”
